Brigette Pheloung, the style authority known online as Acquired Style, married Mitch McHale in Newport, Rhode Island, on Aug. 8 following nine years together. The ceremony, per E! News, featured a ballgown by Vera Wang with a sculptural bodice and statement floral appliqués at the waist. An image of the gown leaked on social media shortly after the nuptials. Days later, Brielle Biermann — daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, herself engaged to baseball player Billy Seidl — posted a video of a strikingly similar gown on her own feed, prompting accusations of deliberate shade.
The Explanation
"Addressing this once & for all," Brielle wrote on Instagram Stories Aug. 10, alongside a screenshot of the original post, per E! News. She explained that the video had been filmed the prior Friday and prescheduled to publish the following Sunday as part of her bridal content rollout — before any leaked photo of Pheloung's dress had reached her. "I've never met @acquired.style & did not know she was getting married this weekend," she wrote. Biermann added that she had a second dress she nearly "said yes" to, also prescheduled, and praised Pheloung's "great taste" in choosing Vera Wang.
The Verdict
Pheloung declined outrage. On The Toast's Instagram coverage of the dust-up, she cheekily commented, "brielles second choice >>>." She followed with her own Aug. 11 post celebrating "the dress of my dreams." The gown was, in fact, one of two she wore: Brigette and Mitch had legally tied the knot weeks earlier at Saint Joseph's University in a figure-hugging hooded gown from their own line, phe phe, in front of close family including her twin sister Danielle Pheloung. Two brides of comparable age and aspirational taste arriving at the same wedding-week destination — this reads less as scandal than as symptom.
